Papagayo Restaurant was opened in 1982 in San Diego Seaport Village as a beautiful Mexican Seafood restaurant. It was decorated in a lush tropical style with lots of plants, and wall murals surrounded diners in the round main dining room.
This page shows a few of the murals which were originally painted at Papagayo. They were all done in the middle of the night because at that time the owners didn't want to disrupt the normal operation of the restaurant, 10 years later this restaurant became Luigi Al Mare and the murals of Papagayo were painted over by Nancy Isbell for Italian themed scenes.
